  INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Institute of Transport & Management Technology. Institute of Transport & Management  Technology formerly Institute of Air Travel & Management Studies was founded in March, 1984 with the desire to enhance professional competence on the part of the trainees. Having known the professional requirements of different professional bodies, it became necessary that institute of this type be established to develop specialized manpower that have long been lacking in the economy of the country.

 OBJECTIVES OF THE THE INSTITUTE

 A.      To eradicate overseas training which drains the foreign reserve of the nation.

 B.       To ensure that aspiring    candidates who cannot afford overseas training and are interested in making 

             these areas a profession are opportuned to do so.

 C.       The desire to enhance professional competence on the part of the trainees.

 D.       To create opportunity for self employment. E. To create employment opportunities for Nigerians in the

              transport industry among others.

 ACHIEVEMENTS

The institute since its inception in 1984 has recorded tremendous achievements in the field of training and manpower development. This is why the institute has been captioned a "Centre of professional Excellence". It has successfully graduated a good number of candidates among whom are some crop of men and women who are executives in their own establishments. This is because the profession gives room for self-employment. Our survey in the transport industry has shown that graduates of this institute are occupying important positions in many establishments all over the world.

This is  not  because this is the institute that pioneered training in this area, but because of dedicated and professionally oriented lecturers who are abreast of current, developments in the industry. To ensure that our graduates are current in the industry, a study group was constituted by the management to conduct periodic research as to development in the transport industry.

 BENEFITS

 A.       Candidates are sent on industrial training to expose them to the practical aspect of the profession.

 B.      The Institute assists where possible the acquisition of employment.

 c.     The Institute advises the students on how to set up their own businesses where the finance is available.

 RECOGNITION / APPROVAL
Approved by the Ministry of Education reference number
LED/CED/VOL.4/S.396/VOL/1 OF 27TH December 1988.
Recognized as a training center for the Nigerian Institute of shipping and the institute of Aviation Management of Nigeria. The Institute is also registered under part C of Decree 1 of 1990. Recognized by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Aviation reference number CA08/008/1/18 of August 1986.

 NOTE: Candidates who complete the final of Institute of Aviation Management of Nigeria (Professional Degree Programmes) are entitled to use AIAM after their names and are qualified to participate in the Institute Post Graduate Diploma. Secondly candidates who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in maritime studies are qualified to write the final of Nigeria Institute of shipping exams which if successful will qualify them as Chartered Shipping Practitioners and can proceed to Post Graduate Diploma of the Institute.

 PROGRAMME ARRANGEMENTS
All courses run for fulltime, weekend and correspondence or distance learning only

 STANDARDIZATION OF COURSES
In line with the institute policy, a candidate is found qualified by the Academic Board, which is made up of experts. It is in this regard that the certificates are accepted for employment.

 FACILITIES
Facilities available in the institute include computers, audio visual aids, a comfortable hostel accommodations for men and women with necessary amenities. A stand-by generator for the supply of electricity and a bore-hole water. There is provision for a first Aid Box for immediate treatment of unexpected illness.

 MATRICULATION/CONVOCATION
The institute matriculates and convocates students. Convocation is assured on successful completion of each course programmed with the gowns.

 INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSES
In preparing these various graduated courses, we have taken into consideration the knowledge requirements of our target population and the sophisticated markets in which they operate. The courses are therefore problem solvers and we strongly believe that those, who go through the courses and through whom the courses go, will find themselves better men and women in their performances in their offices alter the courses.

One important aspect and a great advantage of course is that apart from the fact that our courses are run by professional experts with wealth of experience and abundant knowledge, our examples during the courses are taken from participants environment to drive home our points.
